Description:
A perennial herb, 30-90 cm tall. Root elongate tuberous. Stem erect, branched, smooth, purple to greenish. Leaves opposite, oblong or oblong-obovate, sparingly hairy, 6-18 x 3-9 cm; petiole 0.6-1.5 cm. Inflorescence terminal and axillary  cymes on 0.5-2.5 cm long peduncles, 1-15 flowers; pedicels 0.5-2.5 cm; flowers bell shape, pale purple; corolla 4.5-6 cm long, tube 2.5-3.5 cm. Fruit capsule, fusiform, 2-3 cm; seeds per valve mostly 10-20
Invaded Habitat:
Road sides, rail-way-embankments, waste places
Distribution:
Since very many years naturalized in Java and Madura
Ecology:
Found especially in dry regions in slightly shaded
