BIOTROP Courier Vol. XIX Q4 2017
This year, our 55th Governing Board Meeting (GBM) was held in Brunei Darussalam. We were very grateful and honored that HE Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam oficially opened the GBM. The GBM initiated many collaborative activities with other institutions within the Southeast Asia region.
Toward the last quarter of 2017, our Centre established collaborations with 5 universities in Southeast Asia i.e. Central Luzon State University (CLSU, Philippines), Cagayan State University (CSU, Philippines), Vietnam national University of Agriculture (VNUA, Vietnam), Universitas Brawijaya (Indonesia) and Royal University of Agriculture (Cambodia). The collaborations focus on tropical biology and other related topics covering the implementation of research activities, training programs and other relevant learning events, provision and consultation of technical advice in research and development, information materials dissemination and exchange of students and scientific staff.
In regards to our continuing commitment to strengthen community welfare and conservation efforts, we held several activities to share our technologies and expertis on agri-based technologies to 36 teachers of special education institutions, training on hazard and risk mapping for watershed management for 6 staff from Timor Leste government institutions and regional workshop on mine reclamation and mine water management.
For the first time, our Centre hosted contest on ornamental birds involving lcoal communities surrounding our campus. It was a prestigious event and was immensely enjoyed by everybody in the event.
See you next year with renewed spirit to contribute more to our region!
